MBABANE – Council employees braved the cold to hike Msunduza mountain trails on Saturday.
The Mayor of Mbabane Councillor Zephaniah Nkambule was present to see off the employees. The Chief Executive Officer Gideon Mhlongo led the employees on the gruelling hike of Msunduza mountain.
The leadership of Msunduza community was represented as the area’s Bucopho also participated in the fun activity, also the families of Council employees also participated in the event and were led by 4 tour guides from Woza Nawe Camp site and Tours.

It took almost 1 hour 30 minutes to finish the 6 km trail which started and ended at Msunduza sports ground.
Along the way the tour guides shared information about the interesting history of Mbabane and key historical points of the city that were visible from the mountain. Due to the foggy weather participants were not able to see the beautiful view of the City.

This is an annual wellness event for council, which started last year and it is aimed at improving healthy lifestyle for employees.
Physical activity has been proven to be the best medicine to curb non-communicable disease like Hypertension and Diabetes.

This event was also aimed at improving the tourism industry through promotion of the Msunduza trails. It is in council’s plans to expand next year’s hiking event, where the Mbabane business community and ratepayers will be invited.
